Overview
Connect your Davis Instruments weather station to the Verdi Dashboard and see its readings next to your irrigation, soil moisture, and other field data. Because the data comes from a station in your own field, your irrigation decisions are based on local conditions rather than a weather service miles away.
Verdi connects to your WeatherLink.com account, imports the stations you choose, and keeps their readings up to date.
Your station must already report to WeatherLink.com. Verdi does not connect to your station directly. It reads the data your station uploads to WeatherLink.com. See Before you start.
Verdi only reads your data. Nothing you do in Verdi, such as renaming, pausing, or removing a station, changes your WeatherLink.com account.
Bring your history with you. You can import past readings from WeatherLink.com, not just new ones.
Supported stations: Davis Vantage Pro2 and Davis Vantage Vue. See Supported stations
Before you start
You need:
A supported Davis weather station: a Vantage Pro2 (wireless or cabled) or a Vantage Vue. See Supported stations
A Davis device that uploads your station's data to WeatherLink.com: a WeatherLink Live, WeatherLink Console, or EnviroMonitor Gateway. See Supported stations for which one fits your station.
A WeatherLink.com account with your station registered and reporting data.
An active WeatherLink Pro or Pro+ subscription for each station you connect. Davis only shares a station's historical records with other apps, such as Verdi, on these plans. The free Basic plan is not enough. Subscriptions are managed in your WeatherLink.com account.
Verdi does not get your station online
Verdi reads your weather data from WeatherLink.com and cannot connect to a Davis sensor suite or console directly. If your station is not already showing current readings on WeatherLink.com, set that up with Davis first, then come back to this guide.
Supported stations
A Davis weather station cannot reach the internet on its own. It sends its readings to a Davis console or gateway, which uploads them to WeatherLink.com over Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular. Use the combination that matches your station.

How each Davis setup connects to WeatherLink.com and Verdi.
Your station | Davis device that uploads to WeatherLink.com |
|---|---|
The standard Vantage Pro2 and Vantage Vue display consoles (not the WeatherLink Console) show your readings but do not upload them to WeatherLink.com on their own. If that is the console you have, you still need one of the devices in the table above.
Choosing a new station? The Vantage Pro2 is the expandable, research-grade option. It comes in wireless and cabled versions and accepts optional sensors such as solar radiation and UV. The Vantage Vue is a compact, all-in-one wireless sensor suite. If you don't need an indoor display, a Vantage Vue weather station paired with a WeatherLink Live is all the hardware you need. Compare models on the Davis weather stations page.
Is your Vantage Pro2 wired into another system? If your cabled station is wired into a controller or node from another irrigation or telemetry provider, such as Netafim, WiseConn, or Ranch Systems, its data does not reach WeatherLink.com and Verdi cannot read it. To use it with Verdi, rewire the sensor suite to a Davis EnviroMonitor Gateway.
Connect your WeatherLink account
1. Get your WeatherLink API Key and API Secret
Sign in to WeatherLink.com with the account your stations are registered to, then open the Account page. Click Generate v2 Key to create your API Key and API Secret. If a v2 key and secret are already shown, you can use those.
Copy both values. Treat the API Secret like a password.
2. Add the credential in Verdi
Open the Settings page and find the API integrations card. Click + Add API credential, then select Davis WeatherLink.
Give the credential a name you will recognize, such as Main Ranch WeatherLink. Paste your API Key and API Secret, then click Add credential.

Verdi then offers to find your stations. Continue to go straight to the next step, or choose to do it later. You can start it from the API integrations card at any time.
If your stations are spread across more than one WeatherLink.com account, add a separate credential for each account.
3. Choose your stations
Verdi uses the credential to find every station on that WeatherLink.com account and opens a short setup wizard. Stations are grouped into:
Not in Verdi yet: stations on your WeatherLink.com account that you have not imported.
In Verdi: stations you have already imported, with their current status.
Select the stations you want in Verdi. You do not have to import every station on the account. For example, you can leave out a station at your home.
Each station appears on your Verdi map at the location saved for it in WeatherLink.com, so check that each location is correct there before you import.

4. Import earlier history (optional)
Check Import earlier history to bring past readings into Verdi. The calendar starts at the earliest date WeatherLink.com has on record for the station, usually when the station was first registered. How far back you can go depends on what WeatherLink.com has stored for your station.
Pick the date you want the import to start from. Verdi shows how many days of data that covers and about how long the import will take.

Large imports take time
Importing several years of data can take a few hours, because WeatherLink.com limits how quickly data can be downloaded. The import runs in the background, so you can close the wizard and keep working. You can go further back later by choosing an earlier start date.
5. Review and apply
Click Next to review your changes. Nothing is saved until you click Apply changes. Verdi confirms when your changes are saved. If something fails, Verdi tells you and you can try again.
See your station in Verdi
Weather stations appear on the Verdi Dashboard map with a blue weather station icon. You can also type "weather station" into the dashboard search to find them.
Click a station's icon to open its card. The card shows:
Status: whether the station is Active or Paused.
Last contact: when Verdi last received data for the station.
View data: opens graphs of the station's readings.

Graphs
Select View data to see your station's readings as graphs, such as air temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind, and barometric pressure. Verdi also shows vapor pressure deficit (VPD), calculated from your station's temperature and humidity. The readings available depend on the sensors installed on your station. Change the time range to look back over any history you have imported.

Device configuration
The Device configuration section of the station card lists every measurement the station reports and the API credential it syncs through. From there you can check the progress of a history import, or jump to that credential on the Settings page.

Status messages
If a station stops reporting, is paused, or can no longer be synced, for example because its WeatherLink subscription has lapsed, the station card explains what happened and how to fix it.

Manage stations and credentials
To make changes after setup, reopen the sync wizard for a credential from the API integrations card on the Settings page. As during setup, nothing changes until you review and apply.
Pause or resume a station. Set its status to Paused to stop syncing new readings, and back to Syncing to resume. You can also pause a station from its card on the map.
Remove a station from Verdi. Set its status to Deleted. This removes the station from Verdi only. Your WeatherLink.com account is not affected.
Add new stations. Stations you add to your WeatherLink.com account later appear under Not in Verdi yet.
Update names and locations. If a station's name or location in WeatherLink.com differs from Verdi, the wizard shows both. Check the box to copy the WeatherLink.com value into Verdi, or leave it unchecked to keep what you have in Verdi.
Import more history. Choose an earlier start date under Import earlier history.
Check import progress. A progress bar shows the import working backward from today toward the start date you chose. It updates as data comes in.
To edit or delete a credential, click it in the API integrations card. If you delete a credential, Verdi can no longer sync the stations connected through it. If you generate a new API Key and API Secret in WeatherLink.com, edit the credential and paste in the new values.
Limits
Davis Vantage Pro2 and Vantage Vue only. Weather stations from other brands are not supported through this integration.
Station readings, not forecasts. Verdi shows current and historical readings from your station. For forecasts, use the Weather button in the Verdi Dashboard.
No alerts yet. You cannot set thresholds or get SMS alerts from weather station readings yet, including frost and heat alerts. We will update this article when they are available.
No GDD or chill hours yet. Calculated metrics such as growing degree days and chill hours are not available yet.
Export from WeatherLink.com. The Verdi Data Export tool does not support weather station data yet. Export your data from WeatherLink.com instead. A new version of the export tool that supports this data is in development.
Verdi is only as current as WeatherLink.com. If your station, console, or gateway loses power or its internet connection, its readings stop updating on WeatherLink.com and in Verdi.
Troubleshooting
Verdi can't find any stations after I add my credential.
Check that you copied the full API Key and API Secret with no extra spaces, that they came from the WeatherLink.com account your stations are registered to, and that the account has at least one station. Edit the credential with the correct values, then sync again.
A station shows no recent data.
Check whether the station is Paused in Verdi. Then look at the station on WeatherLink.com. If it is not updating there either, the problem is between the station and WeatherLink.com, such as power, Wi-Fi, or cellular service at the console or gateway.
History won't import, or a station stopped syncing.
Make sure the station has an active WeatherLink Pro or Pro+ subscription. Davis only shares historical data with Verdi on these plans.
The history import is taking a long time.
This is normal for large imports. Several years of data can take a few hours. Reopen the sync wizard to watch the progress bar.
A station has the wrong name or is in the wrong place on the map.
Correct it in WeatherLink.com, then reopen the sync wizard and choose to copy the new name or location into Verdi.
